Short answer: yes.

As a busy mom with thick, naturally wavy hair, the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver is one of the few beauty tools I’ve tried that actually lived up to the hype.

Most days, I’m lucky if I get a few minutes to myself before someone needs a snack, a diaper change, or help finding a toy. So when I kept seeing videos of this hair waver creating those effortless mermaid waves all over social media, I was intrigued but skeptical.

I’ve tried the  three-barrel waver before, and honestly, the results were lackluster. Cute but not as impressive as I hoped. The waves never looked like magical mermaid hair.

Then I received the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver as a Mother’s Day gift, and after using it for the first time, I completely understand why people are obsessed.

My Experience Using the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver on Thick, Wavy Hair

For reference, my hair is thick, naturally wavy, and falls just past my shoulders.

It’s in that frustrating in-between category where it’s not curly enough to look intentionally curly, but not straight enough to cooperate either. Left on its own, it tends to get puffy and frizzy.

I also have a copper balayage and am currently dealing with some postpartum hair loss, so I was curious to see how this waver would work on my hair texture.

The good news? It held the waves beautifully.

My First Impression of the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver

My first attempt took about 40 minutes from start to finish.

That might sound like a long time, but keep in mind this was my very first time using this waver. I was learning as I went and being extra careful because I wanted the waves to come out nicely for my son’s first lemonade stand that day.

Now that I know what I’m doing, I expect future styling sessions to be at least a little faster.

The biggest surprise? I got great results on my very first try!

How to Get Mermaid Waves with the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver

The TYMO Rovy Hair Waver gave me exactly the look I had been trying to achieve for years.

Soft, beachy, mermaid-inspired waves with lots of movement and volume.

Unlike the three-barrel waver I used in the past, these waves looked natural and flattering instead of overly crimped.

The style completely changed my look and made me feel super cute.

I normally wear soft curls, so I expected a subtle difference. Instead, it felt like I had a totally new hairstyle.

My husband immediately noticed and told me I should do it again soon. I also received multiple compliments from friends and family, which is always a nice bonus.

Most importantly, it made me feel put together, confident, and a little rawr!

As moms, we often put ourselves last. This felt like one of those small things that helped me feel like I mattered too.

After seeing the results, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite beauty finds of the year. If you’re considering trying the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver yourself, you can shop it here:

How Long Do TYMO Rovy Hair Waver Waves Last?

The waves lasted until I washed my hair.

On the first day, I used a little hairspray, texture spray, and a small amount of argan oil for shine and smoothness.

The only thing I’d recommend is using a smoothing product if your hair tends to frizz. Because of the wave pattern, you won’t want to brush your hair out. Instead, gently finger-comb it and use a serum or oil if needed.

One thing I love is that I can style my hair once and enjoy the waves for days afterward. (The photo below is day 2 hair after I brushed it out!)

In fact, I’m planning to use the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver before our upcoming beach trip because I know the waves will last and still look cute with very little effort.

What I Loved About the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver

  • Easy to learn
  • Natural-looking mermaid waves
  • Long-lasting results
  • Completely changed up my everyday look
  • Great for vacations and busy weeks when you don’t want to restyle your hair every day
  • Works well on thick, wavy hair

What I Didn’t Love

No product is perfect, and there are a couple of things worth mentioning.

First, my initial styling session took about 40 minutes. I expect that to get faster with practice, but it isn’t a five-minute hairstyle.

Second, if your hair tends to get frizzy, you’ll want to use a smoothing product and avoid brushing the waves out (or use an oil or taming cream after brushing out your hair). In general, a finger-combing works much better.

Neither of these would stop me from using it again, but they’re worth knowing before you buy.

Is the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver Worth It for Busy Moms?

For me, absolutely.

If the TYMO Rovy Hair Waver broke tomorrow, I’d replace it.

In fact, after seeing how well it worked, I got rid of my old three-barrel waver because I knew I wouldn’t be reaching for it again.

I think this hair waver is perfect for moms who want an easy way to feel a little more polished without spending hours styling their hair.

No, it’s not an instant five-minute hairstyle. You’ll still need to section your hair and take your time. But the results last so long that the time investment feels worth it.

Final Verdict

The TYMO Rovy Hair Waver is one of those products that actually lived up to the hype.

If you’ve been wanting effortless beachy waves, a fun way to change up your look, or a hairstyle that lasts for days, I think it’s absolutely worth adding to your wish list.
